As though I do not go on and on about Ryan Gosling enough…I am a HUGE fan of the Feminist Ryan Gosling site. Admittedly, some of the statements I actually do not quite understand, but I LOVE it nonetheless!

A few weeks ago I photographed Miss A who had decided that wanted to step beyond her own comfort level and get in front of my camera. During the consultation, we discussed her thoughts about herself, her body, her greatest strengths, and her insecurities. As we chatted, I found that she was voicing a lot of the opinions and thoughts that I have, and it made for an immediate connection that came out during the session. I also found out that she is a belly dancer, which I have been wanting to learn for years!! We agreed she had to bring some of her belly dancing accoutrement along, and it made for some really wonderful images! We had SUCH a blast during the session, and her when I initially reviewed her images, they actually brought tears to my eyes! The confidence she feels in front of the camera is evident in these images..I LOVE THAT!! I have so many beautiful images from this session, and here are some of my favorites! Thank you, Miss A, for sharing your beauty with me!

Had to share this! It is amazing how often I meet woman, and as I am talking to them about what I do, they always say they would love to do it, but they want to lose 10 lbs first. I always tell them that their particular beauty is the sum of their parts…all their parts. We all have things about ourselves that we love, things we would like to change, and things that make us completely unique. And the most gratifying thing I can do in my life – the reason why I believe I am here on earth – is to provide a space where I can show that same woman how beautiful she really is. The nature of what I do – being a photographer – means walking that fine line between the visual, as well as the intrinsic. It is my mission and my passion to join these two together in an images that reflects both. I found this on Tumblr, and it just summed up exactly what I am talking about when I have those conversations. Remember – Your beauty is the combination of ALL that you are!! If you are not going to feel that beauty now – what are you waiting for? Life is short! Embrace it!

It is such a small world that we live in these days. Miss T is the (now) wife of a childhood friend of mine who grew up just a few houses down from me in Baltimore. Crazy we all moved 1,700 miles away from home, and now live just a few miles apart! When I met Miss T, she was engaged and interested in doing the session for her fiance. We had so much fun doing this session! Miss T is FULL of personality, laughter, and has such an amazing smile, she made it so easy! Here are a few of my favorite images from her session.
